Fantastic! The globe does not spin on its own, you need to blow carefully or spin it carefully with your fingers. It will of course stop once finished. The globe does however “float” in mid air. It’s brilliant and my son loves it. My husband said “he won’t want that, send it back,” ....... but my son does want it... so do we... and the husband is quietly looking at it! It does float, you just need to 1) use the block as described in the instructions or 2) just use yours hands - carefully hold the globe in the palm of your hands, feel the pull of the magnetic force, then just slide your hand away. The globe will float. If you turn the power off, the globe will drop, so just push the globe upwards so it will attach to the “arm”, then turn the power off at the wall. The globe will “stick” to the arm. When the power is turned back on, you need to release the globe with your hand, then use the re-floating instructions above. The light on the arm is also really pretty - if placed near the wall, the light will reflect onto the wall. It is not sufficient to read by though. This is a fantastic gift for the desk, providing you get one that does not “hum!” Ours did make a noise, so we emailed the seller and without a quibble, he sent a replacement which arrived within days. The new one is silent and makes no noise. Excellent customer service and excellent product! 5 stars all round!

It looks super cool and it is easy to set in motion. They provide a spacer so you get the right gap to place it in the electromagnetic field, but you soon learn how to do this yourself, you can kind of feel with the change in resistance when its in the right place. If you want your world to keep turning you have to do this manually and it lasts for some time before eventually stopping. I found out later for a few quid more you can get one thats automatic, I think for a few extra quid this would be worth it.

I felt I had to reduce from 5 to 4 stars, as the product description states 'floating and rotating in mid-air', which is true, but what they don't mention that, although the levitating is permanent, the rotating only happens for about half an hour, if carefully spun by yourself first, before stopping still. A levitating, non-rotating globe is NOT as cool. PLUS, they don't mention the light can't be turned off unless they entire device is so, unless you're willing to leave the light on all night, then it has to be turned off, he globe drops, and then has to be reset the next day - plus respun every half hour. Therefore, a little over-priced for what it is. Aside from that, it's still pretty cool, as per my original comment, below: I just love perpetual motion etc. sculptures and ornaments. This (I bought the black/silver globe version) looks tidy and reasonably classy, for the price. I'm not sure what the 'thickness' star review refers to, so leaving this blank. It hovers in mid-air really well, but doesn't appear to spin continuously, and gradually slows down, then slowly spins either way, and gradually stops and just hovers. But hey, not much to complain about for the price. The low light is pleasant, but there doesn't appear to be any option to turn this off, especially if you want to leave it on overnight. It appears you may have to turn it off each night and just restart the hover and spin of the globe each day - a little annoying. I'm going to ask some questions to the seller. But, all in all, a pleasant addition to my long, 3 metre TV cabinet, or wherever else you might want to place it.

Disappointed with this Christmas gift for my nephew. Not only is it so so cheap looking and just naff,you have to be so careful when placing the globe. One tiny movement and it sticks itself to the magnet. Also, very difficult to spin the globe. Wish I hadnt wanted the money.

Easy to set up. Completes my desk set-up. Not sure what other reviewers had issue with, works well and levitates, I can even get it to spin.
